Oh my sweet boy. How is it that this day is here. Why it was only yesterday that you carried frogs around in your overall pockets and twisted my hair in your little hand while you slept. You begged me to give you neck sugar and tickle scratch your back. I began praying for you back then that you would find your lifelong
mate early in life. That you would fall deeply in love with your best friend. That you would see straight into a young woman’s eyes and see your future. I wasn’t selfish as some mothers of boys are. I knew that God commmands a man to leave his mother. To cling to his wife. And that was my earnest prayer for you. But little did I know what would happen between that day I first prayed this prayer, as I rocked you in my arms and this day.
No I didn’t know that God had fashioned a beautiful little red haired girl out of spunk and grit. He made her tough and soft. Smart and fragile. Quick witted and funny. Everything that would peak the interest of the new boy at Meek Highschool in Arley Alabama.
And how my little family ended up in Arley? Only God knows the whole story of that but we are assured of one major truth….that He makes all things work together for HIS good for those who are called according to HIS purpose. So all the dumb mistakes your parents have made, Luke and Jayden, could have never changed that God Intended for this day to come. Every choice, every heartache, every tear bring us here today.
I have many regrets in my life, as I’m sure many of you do also.
But I can say this without a doubt…. I wouldn’t change a thing if it meant changing that this day would come. I am so thankful today for Gods protection of the hearts of these two that will join their lives together. My prayers now for you, Luke and Jayden, are for you to put God first in all that you do…. He has been putting you first over and over again to insure your paths would cross,
that your hearts would be prepared, and your eyes opened to His marvelous plan for your lives. Yours truly is a match made in heaven.
